Aquéllos que me siguen en Instagram probablemente se dieron cuenta que el jueves pasado me invitaron al cocktail que ofreció Karen Collignon en el marco del 6o Congreso de Interiorismo y Arquitectura. Como siempre, quedé encantada con todo: comida deliciosa, excelentes amigos anfitriones y una decoración increíblemente sencilla de hacer, pero sumamente exquisita. Las mesas estuvieron decoradas con una variedad de flores y pétalos de Cempazúchitl (muy ad hoc con las fechas), suculentas, calabazas y velas… súper fácil de hacerlo en casa para una fiesta otoñal en esta temporada, ¿no te parece? Lo más destacado fue la asistencia del diseñador industrial Karim Rashid… todo mundo se quería tomar foto con él (por ahí, en una de las fotos, puedes ver sus lentes, jeje). Yo, mientras tanto, estaba entretenida tomando fotos y fotos de las mesas y las flores… 🙂

No pude evitar recordar cómo el lugar se veía muy distinto al año pasado, en que la fiesta pareció instalarse en medio del bosque.

¡Estate pendiente esta semana, pues ya casi tengo listo el tutorial para las calaveritas de azúcar que he estado haciendo!!!! Son como me gustan: fáciles, y lindísimas 🙂

Those who follow me on Instagram probably remember I was invited last Thursday to a cocktail at designer Karen Collignon’s boutique. As usual, I was blown away by everything: delicious food, excellent company and hosts, and an amazingly simple yet exquisite table setting. The tables were decorated with a variety of Marygold flowers and petals, succulents, pumpkins, and candles… soooooo easy to recreate at home for entertaining friends and family! The highlight of the evening was Karim Rashid, who attended the party. Everyone wanted a picture with him (you can see his nose and glasses in one of the photos), while I was busy taking lots of table and flower photographs 🙂 I couldn’t help remembering how different it looked last year, when the party seemed to take place in the middle of the forest.

After taking a one month break, today is the time for our monthly “meet you at” party, were a group of fellow deco-bloggers and me get together and share a post on a same subject for our readers’ joy. This time, we’re celebrating our comeback, and we are meeting at the party, yay!

Para la ocasión, tengo la fiesta perfecta. Ningún motivo en particular, más que simplemente la dicha y el placer de invitar a las amigas y pasarla bien. A continuación, una fiesta hermosa (por cierto, organizada por Nicole Richi), en un patio maravilloso (el de su casa). Todo es inspirador, desde la paleta de colores azul y dorada (moderna y diferente), la decoración, con un toque vintage-industrial, e incluso la comida, bellamente servida. ¿Te vienes?

I’ve got the perfect, most inspiring party for our virtual reunion. The celebration is nothing in particular, but only the joy of having friends over and spending a good time. Following up, a gorgeous party (held by Nicole Richi, by the way), in a gorgeous outdoor area (at her place). Everything is inspiring: the gold and blue palette (both modern, and different), the pieces and style (vintage meets industrial), and even the food, beautifully served. Wanna come?

Éste es un post muy especial.

Finalmente, después de dos muy largos meses, puedo compartir esta casa que que he venido presumiendo en instagram, impaciente por mostrarla. No sé si recuerdan, pero en julio les conté cómo mi disco duro tronó irremediablemente, perdiendo todas mis fotos de lo que iba del año. Lo que no les conté fue que lo perdí justo el día que estaba terminando de escoger las fotos de esta precisa casa, para escribir el post que quería compartir al día siguiente. No cabe duda que en todo lo malo hay cosas buenas, pues para recuperar las fotos no me quedó de otra más que hacer el viaje de 2 horas a Tapalpa y revivir la increíble experiencia de estar ahí en compañía de unos excelentes anfitriones y amigos.

Finally, after two very long months, I’m able to share this house I’ve been sharing on instagram, eager to do so here. I don’t know if you remember, but back in July I wrote how I lost my hard drive for good, loosing all my photos from 2013. What I didn’t say was I actually lost it the very same day I was working with this house’s photos, trying to pick the winning few (out of hundreds) for the post I would write that night. There’s no doubt that good comes even from bad things, for the only thing left for me to do to recover the photos was to make the two hour trip to Tapalpa and live the amazing experience of being there in the company of the greatest hosts and friends, all over again.

La primera vez que conocí este lugar fue como parte de las actividades de fin de mi diplomado en diseño de interiores, y acompañando nuevamente a nuestros compañeros de paisajismo. Coyaua es un proyecto increíble del cual quedé profundamente enamorada. Habiendo empezado de la nada, es un excelente ejemplo de lo que la voluntad puede lograr, pues ahora es un espacio hermoso, completamente integrado con la naturaleza del lugar.

The first time I visited this place was as our last activity from my Interior Design course. Coyaua is an amazing project I fell in love with. Having started from zero, this is a great example of what will-power can achieve, for it is now a gorgeous space, completely integrated with the nature that surrounds it.

Nuevamente las fotos que tengo del lugar son demasiadas para un sólo post (eso pasa cuando me dejan en una casa/jardín bonito con cámara en mano). Así que, sin más, empezamos por los interiores, ¿te parece?

Once again, the amount of photos is huge for a single post (see what happens when you leave me in a gorgeous house/garden with my camera?). So let’s start from the indoors, shall we?

Diseñada por Karen Collignon, esta casa tiene una mezcla sumamente interesante y profundamente atractiva: es rústica, pero contemporánea, con un estilo mexicano pero con toques vintage, e incluso orientales. La casa en sí es pequeña, pero cuenta con un bello patio que le da mucha amplitud. La arquitectura tiene detalles muy de rancho, que a mí en lo particular me enloquecen, como las vigas en los techos, los espacios típicamente cuadrados, la simpleza de los materiales, el patio central. Hay muchas piezas y elementos recuperados, así como detalles muy originales, como son los gabinetes inferiores de la cocina, totalmente abiertos y hechos con piedra laja, de igual manera que los muebles de baño. El juego de texturas y elementos me encanta. Es sin duda un espacio que te hace sentir bienvenido y en casa.

Designed by Mexican Karen Collignon, this house has a very interesting and deeply appealing mix: it’s rustic, but contemporary, with a Mexican style, but with vintage and even asian touches. The house is actually on the small size, but has a lovely patio which gives the open feel to it. I love the its architecture, the ranch-like details that make me go crazy, such as the beams on the high ceilings, the very square spaces, the simplicity of the materials, the patio. There are several reclaimed pieces and elements, as well as very original ideas, such as the kitchen lower “cabinets, made from stone (the same as the bathroom furniture). And then there’s the mix of textures… This is definitely a space that makes you feel right at home.

Después de un fin de semana inspirador y lleno de lluvia, estoy de vuelta frente a la computadora, lista para compartirles la segunda parte de la increíble casa estilo mexicano del viernes. Y a ustedes, ¿cómo los trató el fin de semana? Espero que de maravilla. 🙂

Como les había dicho, hoy iniciamos el recorrido desde el pasillo, pero con la dirección contraria, hacia el interior de la casa… ¿vamos?

After a most inspiring and rainy weekend, I’m back in front of the computer, ready to share with you the second part to the gorgeous Mexican style home from last Friday. How is the long weekend treating you? I hope great 🙂

Like I told you, we are taking of where we ended, right in the hallway, but heading straight into this lovely home… wanna join me?

Paredes blancas que aportan amplitud a los espacios, con algunos muros de acento color azul intenso, creando un contraste interesante y muy alegre. Volvemos a encontrar materiales muy característicos en la arquitectura mexicana, como el suelo de barro, los azulejos del baño, las puertas de madera sólida tipo rancho y la herrería, mientras que en la decoración sobresalen piezas mexicanas, como son los muebles rústicos, las lámparas de alpaca, las artesanías y juguetes tradicionales, los bordados, y las pinturas. El evidente estilo mexicano de esta casa, es sin embargo actual y contemporáneo, y sobretodo, un claro reflejo de la personalidad de sus dueños. Una casa que te acoge y te hace sentir en casa desde el primer momento en que la conoces.

Yo me quedo con esta última toma, el instante en que la luz entra a través del techo, y cómo ilumina y da amplitud… en contraste con el azul intenso de la pared.

White walls with intense blue accents, create an interesting and joyful contrast. We can notice very Mexican elements in the architecture, such as the clay flooring, or the tiles in the bathroom, and many Mexican pieces in the décor, such as the rustic furniture, the metal pendant, the traditional toys and crafts, the embroidery and the paintings. This Mexican style, however, has a modern feel to it, and reflects the owners’ personality extremely well. A welcoming house that makes you feel right at home the first moment to enter.

I love this last photo, and how it captures light entering through the ceiling and into the deep blue accent wall. Which is your favorite spot?

Desde pequeña me gusta leer revistas de decoración… y una de las cosas que recuerdo, era perderme con los anuncios de Banak Importa. Piezas de madera natural y accesorios con un toque étnico perfecto para aportar carácter y calidez a los espacios. Desde entonces le he seguido los pasos a esta marca española, y ahora con el internet, inspirarme es tan fácil como visitar su sitio. 😉 Aquí algunos de los ambientes que más me han gustado de su último catálogo.

 I love reading home decor magazines since I can recall, and one of the things I remember is dreaming away with ads from Banak Importa. Natural wood pieces and ethnic accesories for the perfect accent in any space. Since then, I’ve been following this store’s steps. The great thing nowadays is getting inspired with Banak is as easy as visiting their site. 😉 Here are a few of my favorite spaces in their catalogue.

Todos los muebles de Banak Importa son de maderas nobles, y tienen un diseño increíble que va bien con cualquier estilo. Pero lo que me gusta más es su carácter artesanal que los hace auténticos y únicos.

All of their furniture is made of wood, and they have beautiful designs that are perfect for any style. What I love the most, though, is their handcraft appeal, which makes them so unique.

Lindos, ¿verdad que sí? Todos los ambientes me gustan mucho, pero mis favoritos son los libreros con escalera de las dos últimas fotos; ¡para suspirar! Me encantaría tener espacio en nuestra casa para poder cubrir una pared con ellos. Y para finalizar, una selección de mis piezas favoritas, mismas que puedes comprar cómodamente en su tienda en línea y así aprovechas los 10 euros que están regalando para primeras compras 😉

Si hay una tienda en todo el mundo que sueñe con que llegue a México es West Elm. Su línea es juvenil, pero con la dosis exacta de estilo, contemporaneidad y clase… perfecta para cualquier estilo, pero especialmente, perfecta para mí. Una “hojeada” virtual a su catálogo me hace suspirar, y es que cada que veo alguna de las fotografías me siento completamente identificada. A continuación, algunas tomas de los catálogos de abril y mayo, llenos de color para estos días de calor.

If there’s any store in the world I would love to come to Mexico is West Elm. I love its modern line, with the exact dose of style, contemporary feel and class. It seems to me it’s perfect for any style, but it is especially perfect for me. A virtual look at their catalogue makes me dream and wonder. It’s just that every time a see one of their photographs I feel completely identified. Here are a few from their April and May colorful catalogues, for these warm days.

Una de las cosas que más me inspira es encontrar espacios pequeños aprovechados al máximo. Creo que las casas o departamentos chiquitos no son impedimento para vivir con estilo, sin embargo son la realidad que la mayoría de nosotros enfrentamos a diario, y por eso me gusta mucho compartir aquéllos que encuentro con ustedes. Este departamento que a continuación te muestro tiene tan sólo 40 m2… y mira qué lindo se ve.

One of the things I enjoy the most is finding tiny spaces with tons of style. And, since most of us deal with a small house or apartment, I love sharing those finds with you, trying to share inspiration for us to transform our places into our dream homes, no matter the size. This next apartment is only 430 square ft, and yet, look how lovely it is.

¿Qué te parece? Me encanta cómo se diferencian las zonas con páneles de cristal, puertas que se deslizan y cambios de color en la pared. La sala se separa de la recámara por una puerta corrediza, de manera que se da privacidad conforme se requiera. Además, la paleta de colores es muy linda y delicada, y el blanco en los muebles sirve mucho para no saturar el espacio. Definitivamente una de mis casas favoritas.

How do you like it? I love how the panels and sliding doors help create different spaces. The living room is separated from the bedroom with sliding doors, which is totally functional. Besides, I love the color palette, so sweet and modern, and the white furniture helps to keep things clean and simple. Definitely one of my favorite homes.

Por fin es viernes 🙂 Para este día, una hermosa y sencilla inspiración: un antecomedor de madera es llevado al siguiente nivel con accesorios de color, ideales para la primavera. Las cortinas enrollables son muy lindas, y resaltan de todo el blanco de fondo, además de que permiten que las lámparas sobresalgan. Agregamos flores como toque final, y listo, un comedor moderno, fresco y alegre.
