I’ve been thinking a lot about the Acapulco chair lately. I’m currently working on a special bedroom, and I think it would look great in a corner, under the window, perfect for reading and enjoying the view. This iconic piece, so trendy lately, is a true classic in Mexican culture, and perhaps Latinamerica. I know my generation keeps fond memories of it from our childhood, especially in small towns and beaches. Actually, there used to be many different pieces of beach furniture made with a metal frame and vinyl or pvc, but the Acapulco became the star. It’s origins have been dated to the 50’s and 60’s, and it was created by local craftsmen. Many brands around the world have retaken its design and are producing variations of it, with high prices similar to the rest of iconic chairs. Although it does have a perfect design (simple, pretty and classic) and it is deliciously confortable, luckily for us you can still find local craftsmen in Mexico who will make it for a much more reasonable price.
Y a ti, ¿te gusta?
