Perhaps you noticed on Instagram that last Friday I made brown rice. We’ve been eating whole rice until recently. Actually, I’ve only bought it twice, so we are still getting the handle of it. At first, it seemed so bland to me, as if it didn’t have enough flavor on its own (unlike white rice, for instance), so I thought of giving it an Oriental touch by putting it in a pan (in the absense of a wok), sauting it with sauces and vegetables. Little by little the dish was perfected, until Friday when it turned out just as I had dreamed of: looking, smelling, and tasting beautifully. And since many of you asked for the recipe, well, we had no choice but to make it again, just for the blog’s sake!

INGREDIENTES:
– 1/2 cebolla chica
– ajonjolí
– aceite
– salsa de anguila
– salsa soya
– limón al gusto
INGREDIENTS:
– 2 cups cooked brown rice (I love Saveur‘s recipe to get it perfect)
– 1 small bell pepper
– 1/2 small onion
– sesame seeds
– oil
– eel sauce
– soy sauce
– lime to taste
PREPARACIÓN:
HOW TO:
1. Slice the bell pepper and onion.
2. In a large, hot pan, add 1 teaspoon of oil, and saute the pepper and onion.
3. Add the rice, moving it gently and integrating the pepper and onion.
4. Add both eel and soy sauce, and lime to taste, moving the rice so that it colors uniforly.
5. Serve on a dish and sprinkle sesame seeds. If you like it hot, you can also sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes.
This rice was a total hit in our family, so I sure hope you like it as much as we do!!! Happy weekend!
P.S. Little disclaimer: I came up with the name of this recipe because I felt like this had a Thai flair, however I made it up, so I’m aware it may have nothing to do with authentic Thai food. Please forgive me for this. 😉
